Marrakech is one of the most pinned tourist destinations in the world, after our visit I can see why, especially when you get to stay in places like Les Deux Tours Hotel, a stylish and serene boutique resort in the city’s lush Palmeraie. If you look for hotels with a bit of character, somewhere that doesn’t have too many rooms, a place that offers great food, has beautiful surroundings and most of all a hotel that will leave a lasting memory, Les Deux Tours certainly offers all that and more.
While for some the hustle of the Medina is enjoyable, if you are after somewhere to recharge your batteries, this resort is pure relaxation away from the madness, which is only a 20-minute taxi ride away. By being just outside Marrakech you get a hotel with never-ending gardens, the hotel is situated within a 3-hectare park with Andalusian gardens that are perfect for a wander after lunch or to just simply relax in one of the few iron four-poster beds dotted around, heavenly is an understatement, and with the limited rooms it will feel like you have the whole place to ourselves.
The hotel has 37 rooms, including seven pool suites, one jacuzzi suite, four premium suites and 12 junior suites, which is what we stayed in, and what makes Les Deux Tours so charming is that each one has a Moroccan flavour, from carved ceilings and bejmat tiles to private terraces and some even have fireplaces, and each one is filled with lovely restored antique Moroccan furnishings that you are going to want to take home with you. On top of all that each one has a view over the beautiful gardens, it is seriously lovely waking up to the chirping birds.
The food is a highlight of this hotel, the romantic Salammbo restaurant fuses Moroccan and Mediterranean influences with a menu that features a lot of produce grown in the hotel’s own garden. If you like Moroccan specialities such as tajines, mixed in with French flavours, and love seafood you will love this place. To finish off any meal you have to try the dessert selection, they are so big that you will probably need to share it.
During the day, the hotel has a relaxed pool-side restaurant, La Pergola that offers more Western style food options, think summer barbecue, club sandwiches, and salads. It was wonderful eating on the terrace before heading back to the pool lounger to continue to soak up the sunshine.
You could also take advantage of room service and enjoy a romantic dinner on your balcony, the staff are really attentive and set up your table as though you are in the restaurant.
As well as the garden, the heated outdoor pool is heaven for soaking up the Moroccan sunshine, after something a little more private there are also two other plunge pools located in different parts of the hotel, the fun is searching and finding a great spot to delve into a good book. This hotel also has an amazing spa where you can enjoy a massage in the open-air or laze in eucalyptus-scented steam in the hammam. All treatments can be done solo or as a couple.
To be honest, there’s no real need to leave Les Deux Tours. Why spend a day being hassled in the souk when you can have a dip in the pool, lounge around the garden in an outdoor four-poster bed, eat a delicious lunch in the pagoda, drink oodles of Morrocan tea, before finishing off the night with a cocktail around the fireplace. If you are after quiet, serene and secluded spot for a romantic, winter sun break – you can’t go wrong with this magnificent hotel.
